The school was established as Cantt Model High School in 1954, aimed at providing education and Trg to the students of the locality; situated at Quaid Avenue between Region office Wah and F G Degree College for Men Wah Cantt. The total area of School is 82 kanals. The student strength has been varying from time to time (860 to 2300) and presently 950.
After nationalization in 1972, it was taken over by the Federal Govt and placed under Ministry of Education, Islamabad with nomenclature of FG Model High School Wah Cantt. In 1977, these institutions were taken over by the IGT&E Br GHQ Rwp and placed under Ministry of Defence, with the same terms/conditions of employments as civil servants.
